TV:ORPHAN BLACK: COSMIA 2
[-] Happy birthday to skymadeofglass and awomanoragirl
[-] I had work today and it went okay. A girl that was in my fifth grade class, recognized me. She was someone I was friends with and then when her BFF came to our school, she dropped me (as a friend) That's all I even remember about her. She is really odd nowadays. She recognized me and she would ask me questions and try to kind of catch up with me a little. She asked a real odd question. She asked if I was on any medication. I said, 'No.' Since she asked, I asked her if she was. She is. She said she has ADHD. She asked if I was living at home and if I had a boyfriend. She also said, I looked good. So I thanked her. It's all very awkward and etc., for me. I didn't know how to react because I honestly don't remember much about her. It was fifth grade... that was a LONG time ago. A lot of ppl know who she is because she comes in with two bags and checks out a lot of stuff at a time and then later she returns it all at the same time. She is pretty odd.
[-] After an hour of being home from work, I went for my walk. :) There was random drops of rain but not enough for me to cut the walk short and walk home. I actually made it home before it started raining more.  I am trying to go for my walks. I don't like waking up early so I go for the walks at 6pm.

In two weeks, I'm seeing Paramore/Fall out boy with my cousin and her boyfriend. :)

I'm Abbey and I'm 29 years old. I work part time at the library and I've worked there for 7 years. I live with my dad & stepmom.  I have a learning disability - Language/speech. It's more in the way of... sometimes, I need someone to re-word something if I don't understand or I have to re-word something when they don't understand what I mean. I'm introverted and a bit of a homebody.  I love a lot of paranormal, supernatural and sci-fi shows and movies.

I was in a MAJOR car accident last month. My car ended up totaled. I'm not majorly hurt. Few cuts, bruises and muscle soreness was all I had. Now, I have this new car. Corolla 2014.

My grandma has been in the hospital for about 2-3 weeks. She fell down a flight of stairs. She is 91 years old. Things aren't looking good. My dad is going visit her tonight.

I love my little pony : friendship is magic. I kinda of collect the little action figures. And... I just bought Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon...
I was never really into My Little Pony as a little girl.

So, after nearly a decade at this site, LJ finally does something that makes me actually rage. No popcorn and laughing as the masses storm to news posts complaining, this time I'm actually worried.

A while back I was invited to help out with BETA testing new LJ services (I got this invite via lj_releases ).

They have just announced BETA testing of a new friendslist.

LJ is planning on redoing everyone's friendslists in the style of the new comment page and update page. They want to copy tumblr and make your friendslist into a dashboard-like system page (infinite scrolling and all). It's also been renamed to "feed" (this I don't mind too much, though). In fact the whole dashboard idea with infinite scrolling wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that everyone will be locked to one specific layout. The system style comment pages are bad enough, but now I'll have to strain my eyes reading my flist? That defeats the purpose of this entire site. The font, use of whitespace, oversized boxes and UI elements ... all contribute to making the page difficult to read, on a site where all you do is read. Aaaah. Even just the possibility of adjusting the font (style and size) would make this suggestion easier to swallow, but it's still not something I'd want for my journal. It would not improve my LJ experience in any way (in fact it would most likely make my daily LJ activities more time consuming).

Now, I wasn't able to make the BETA page display my own friendslist, so I apologise to the random users who are featured in the screenshot, but to give everyone an idea, the below image shows you what your friendslist probably will look like in a couple of months.

(Click for big)

I never switched over from Dystopia, so that adds to the weirdness. You're going to have to picture this with the standard LiveJournal drop down navigation + no blue sidebar to the left. Click the screenshots for bigger versions.

Top of page with links to journal, archive, profile

Example of text heavy post as displayed on friendslist

New buttons to the right replace the navigation strip. One tab for filters

One tab for Archive/Calendar, you can filter your feed to display posts from one specific date. These buttons follow along as you scroll down the page (infinite scrolling).

All friendslists will look the same.

Snippet from the locked post at lj_releases :
The friends page has been redesigned as a system page for all users, and is now available for Beta testers. There is a link at the top of your friends page allowing you to switch between the new and old versions, and will later go into public beta testing. You can switch back and forth between both versions throughout beta testing.

PUBLIC POST AT lj_releases ABOUT THE NEW FRIENDSLIST: http://lj-releases.livejournal.com/79480.html.

You can also see the proposed changes for yourself by enabling the BETA on your own journal (instructions from ruljautonews ):
It's trivially easy to test beta features.
1) Go to lj_ru_beta and request to join.
2) Wait to get confirmation that you've been accepted into the community (this could take a few hours.)
3) Go to this page and choose Go To under Beta.
4) That's it, you're now testing the beta release. All site-scheme pages should now display a big "BETA BETA BETA BETA BETA BETA" in yellow letters across the top.
5) You could make comments in the lj_ru_beta post, but if you do please keep this in mind: the majority of commenters there don't speak English and if they do it's not their primary language. Machine translation of Russian is lousy. "My hovercraft is full of eels" lousy. While you can engage in basic dialogue and get a feel for what the other person is saying, don't get too hung up on anyone's phrasing.

You can easily switch back to the old version.

Make sure you let LJ know what you think of these proposed changes, I can't be the only one who thinks this is a horrible idea.

ETA: It's nice to see that I'm not the only one worried about the proposed changes, but please direct your feedback through the proper channels. This is a private journal, I have no affiliation with LJ. Please also be respectful when addressing the LJ staff. They are just doing their jobs. Thanks!

My dad was pretty drunk tonight

MOVIE:MALEFICENT

Yeah, so like the title says, my dad was drunk tonight. He drank a bit more once he was home. Rambling and on.

He rambled on to me about taking my car up to Auto Tire because its right up the street. Just because it's more convenient. Because its a 5 minute drive or less. But I bet repairs are more expensive and they'll tell me something is broken when it isn't.

The place I take my car now, is a 15 minute drive. It's not an hour drive. I can see why he would say it was inconvenient if it was an hour drive there but it's not! So ya. 15 minute drive there and another 15 minute drive home. But I trust this place. It's not very expensive but they're not going to tell me something is wrong or broken when it isn't.

So no, I'm not going start taking my car else where b/c in my dad's drunk state that he thinks its inconvenient to take my car there.

I don't know why I'm letting it bother me since he is drunk and probably won't remember what he said.

I am cleaning out my friends list. Removing inactive people. If you think I've made a mistake and want to be added back, comment here. Or if you've been on LJ but haven't been updating your LJ.

And for the inactive people that I do remove, if you come back to the land of the living (on Livejournal) and want me to add you then comment here as well.

All U.S. Internet Providers will be policing downloads by July 12, 2012

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

Someone egged my car

MOVIE:MALEFICENT

I woke up and took care of the dogs meds. Then I looked outside at my car and I saw white streaks on the drivers side of my car. Also eggs on my windshield. I had to pull my car into the driveway and get a bucket and rag and wash the car. It took me about two hours to wash off.

Now I'm worried that it'll happen again. :(
